Here’s a favorite from my childhood.
Dinosaurs! – A Fun-Filled Trip Back in Time! is a movie released by Golden Book Video in 1987 under their “GoldenVision” series. It stars Fred Savage playing a grade school student named Philip who gives a class report on dinosaurs, with the help of an animated chalkboard and Will Vinton’s claymation dinosaurs.
Originally created in 1980, when it was known more simply as Dinosaur, the 17-minute claymation short by Vinton Studios would later be used for this 1987 video. The popular short is also played at the Smithsonian Museum and has won numerous awards.
Dinosaurs! was designed as an educational film for young children new to the world of prehistoric life; the video slipcase describes the film with “Discover the real monsters who dominated the earth for millions of years!” The cartoon animation of the chalkboard is used to elaborate on attributes such as the extinction of the dinosaurs as well as their brain capacity, while the Vinton claymation illustrates, in a colorful and simplistic manner, the brutal lives of the many dinosaurs. The movie also introduces a music video for the song “Mesozoic Mind” by Charmer, featuring cartoon dinosaurs performing it.
holy shit, i love this movie.

MY CHILDHOOD OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
These dinosaurs were not from 100 million years ago. I expected more scientific accuracy from the singing cartoon dinosaur.

Oooohh my gosh I watched this constantly when I was a kid!!
I’d love to have that song at the beginning, the one with the beat that sounds like “I’ll Be Watching You.”
I had those bed sheets when I was young!
Oh god i remember this!! ah man i haven’t seen this in for ever!
The kid in this is the guy with the mole from Austin Powers
Omg I had this!!!
This kid has a cool bedroom collection of dinosaurs just like me!
How cool is that!
Ahh, I remember watching this.
I remember doing air guitar to this as a kid!
I remember as a kid, I always hated how the artist drew T-rex on guitar and the dino playing the drums when they were facing forward. The drummer looked like a stoned, old man and I just didn’t like the Rex, lol. As a kid obsessed with dinosaurs stuff like that easily pissed me off.
